San Remo has, for years, been one of the most touristic cities on the western Riviera.
It is famous for its flowers and the Festival of song Italian which takes its name from the city and has been watched by millions of television viewers for more than 60 editions. The Ariston, the theatre where the show takes place, is open throughout the year as a cinema, in case you want to browse!
Sanremo is the right choice if you feel like shoppingThe pedestrian streets of the centre are a succession of renowned Made in Italy shops and boutiques. For lovers of designer labels, outside the centre, in the Valle Armea area, the recently opened 'The Mall' a shopping centre dedicated to the single-brand stores of major fashion designers.
The offer is combined with the Casinothe pretty historic centre and some fine buildings, such as the beautiful Russian Orthodox Church, a precious legacy of the 19th century, when San Remo was a holiday resort for European nobility.
One last tip: to park your car, it is best to follow the signs to the harbour, with a bit of luck you may even find some free parking there.
Another great idea to avoid the stress of traffic is to arrive by bicycle: the cycle path of the Flower Riviera runs through the town and is a very comfortable as well as pleasant solution. You can leave your car in San Lorenzo or in Riva Ligure, rent a bicycle at one of the rental points you come across on the track and enjoy a scenic ride!
