We are at Ventimigliain 1867. Thomas Hanbury, an English trader in spices, tea and silk, bought an estate with a ruined old mansion and, thanks to a great passion for nature and the collaboration of the best botanists, agronomists and landscape architects of the time, transformed it into a wonderful botanical garden, which will become one of the most famous in the world.

The park still stretches 18 hectares on the entire Capo Mortola promontory, and is unparalleled in Europe both from a botanical point of view, with the 5800 plant species ornamental, medicinal and fruit trees, as well as the landscape, thanks to the harmony between buildings, ornamental elements and cultivated terraces.
