Dal fascino impareggiabile, Bussana Vecchia è anche chiamata Il Borgo degli Artisti, per la sua storia unica.

Dopo un violento terremoto che, nel 1887, distrusse gran parte della località, gli abitanti dell'epoca abbandonarono le loro case, e il borgo rimase inabitato e dimenticato per moltissimi anni.

Walking through the narrow streets of the village, one has the impression of being in an almost unreal place: one sees corners where nature has taken over, with buildings covered in climbing plants, old stone houses, ruins that have been restored but never distorted.

Nel mezzo di tutto ciò è facile poi imbattersi in tocchi artistici, dipinti, murales, sedie colorate appese al muro, trasformate in fioriere o statue incastonate nella cinta muraria.
Si, perchè alla fine degli anni '50 una comunità di artisti si è insediata nel Borgo e lo ha ricostruito poco a poco usando le tegole, le pietre e i mattoni recuperati dalle macerie e aggiungendo un tocco di originalità.

Spend some time among the artists' shops and craftsmen's workshops; there are also several small restaurants and cafés to relax in. Then visit the main points of interest in the village, such as the garden among the ruins, a labyrinth of plants and flowers, or the Church of Sant'Egidio, with its open-air remains.

An experience you absolutely cannot miss, in a truly unique place.
